“We are young, we can make ourselves uncomfortable” Elias Gottstein and Carl Luis Zielke have no fixed abode, no education, no bank account, no collateral. Instead, they are living their dream of freedom: radical, anarchic, unplugged! They are young, they are intelligent, they are hungry: for life, for music, for a future far removed from the bourgeois world of ideas. They are also full of boundless optimism that they can shape their own lives – with and through their music. As “Guaia Guaia” they travel from city to city on homemade bicycles, attracting fans and police with loud, illegal concerts. The film follows the two street musicians for a year on their tour through Germany, between performances and the search for accommodation. It is the portrait of two young men who do not want to accept the label of male, unemployed, East German and without prospects and instead go their own way. In doing so, they repeatedly find themselves in the field of tension between their ideals and the society in which business and success count.
